Beyond the screen. Making equipment work.
Since our founding in 1991, we have developed communications equipment and measurement and control systems. Through R&D projects with businesses and universities, we have built expertise connecting signal processing with data processing, and software with hardware.
01
Communications & test systems
COMMUNICATION / TESTING
Modem testers and communications firmware: developing equipment that tests communications behavior, along with the software that runs the devices.
Communications control Embedded systems
02
Measurement & equipment control
MEASUREMENT / CONTROL
Measurement and control software, including control technology for laser stabilization equipment. Connecting physical signals with computer-side processing.

Voice, fax & telephony integration
VOICE / FAX / CTI
Voice and fax systems and computer telephony integration (CTI). Using telephone lines as an entry point for services that deliver information.
Telephony integration Information processing
The projects below show how we brought these technologies into products and services.

The ideas and engineering behind the product names.
CASE 01 / MOBILE WEB × VOICEANNOUNCED IN 2000
VRecordFrom the mobile web to services with a voice.
2000
A system connecting mobile websites, including i-mode services, with telephone-based voice services. The idea was simple: choose on screen, then listen to the information.
The challenge
The mobile web was largely text-based. Telephone voice menus often required repeated keypad input before callers reached the information they wanted.
What we developed
We moved voice-service selection to the web, with integration and migration from existing websites and voice systems in mind. We also launched Postalk, a website using VRecord.
Proposed applications
Ringtone previews, new music introductions, product information and reservation guidance. These were proposed applications at the time, rather than claims of individual deployments.

ENGINEERING IDEA
A familiar device. A new way to deliver information.
CASE 02 / TELEPHONE × INTERNETANNOUNCED IN SEPTEMBER 2001
Zoot Phone AdapterA familiar telephone. A new internet connection.
2001
An adapter connecting a standard telephone to a PC for internet calls with familiar phone controls. Developed jointly with Interlink and Net2Com.
The challenge
Replace the mouse and keyboard operations required for PC calls with the familiar controls of an everyday telephone.
What we developed
The adapter supported ringing, redial and cordless phones. We developed a configuration using Zoot Phone Explorer, an H.323 video-calling application.
Service integration
We also introduced a service-center feature that stored video messages when the user’s PC was switched off or disconnected.

CASE 03 / MOBILE VIDEO × NETWORKANNOUNCED IN JULY 2002
MRecordCapture on a phone. Make it viewable on a PC.
2002
A network service that converted video from video-call-capable mobile devices, such as FOMA and Lookwalk, into streaming files.
The goal
Make footage captured on mobile devices available as files that could be viewed and distributed on computers.
What we developed
Incoming video was recorded, converted and stored on a server. An optional service automatically transferred files to the customer’s video delivery server.
Technical approach
RealMedia was the primary format. Automatic transfers used FTP and included metadata such as recording duration. Web publication and delivery took place on the customer’s own server.

CASE 04 / LOCATION × PLATFORMAN ONGOING DEVELOPMENT
G-RECORDMultiple GPS devices. One management interface.
IoT
A platform for centralized management of GPS device locations. It extends our development into connecting devices, communications and the interfaces people use to review information.
The information
Location information from multiple GPS devices, including each device’s route and current position, brought together in one place.
How it works
View multiple devices on a single screen, then inspect an individual device’s route and location. Connecting equipment in the field with the information needed to manage it.
Applications
Location management for vehicles and other moving assets, along with monitoring applications. The development considers how information is used in daily operations, beyond simply plotting a position.
